Upside Down Kingdom - Real Christianity
Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mom's out there today! Nearing the end of our Upside Down Kingdom series, today we’re in Luke 5:33-39, where we see Jesus address questions surrounding fasting or ritualistic living. In the new covenant era, when we receive Jesus, things begin to transform from within over time. We slowly but surely start to become more like Him. However, it can be so easy for us to either remain in old patterns that are familiar to us because it can be difficult and painful to either understand the new or to be pruned of the old. We can also fall into ways of living based out of performance, in which we end up performing for righteousness or accolades, instead of receiving the grace and mercy offered first and letting that become our “being.” Yes, good works are part of being within the kingdom, but trying to live a spiritual life without Jesus as the source/doing it from the right posture will eventually lead to exhaustion, burnout, confusion, etc. Though this is a dance that believers will live out imperfectly, we are all being sanctified, pruned, and taught different things within our own journeys that will lead to more life. Upside Down Kingdom - Saving All the Wrong People
Continuing on in our Upside Down Kingdom series, Pastor Tyler takes us through Luke 5:27-32. In the midst of the Roman Empire, Levi was working for them as a Jewish tax collector, effectively betraying his own people with his profession. Tax collectors were not viewed with admiration, to put it lightly. Yet, Jesus invites Him to join the team of disciples He was building. Levi obliges, and instantly drops everything he is doing to go and follow Jesus. However, this was met with a lot of resistance from others in the circle because of Levi’s recent former occupation. How does one shake an identity that is now seemingly tied to them as a person, and isn’t met with much understanding or grace by worldly standards? As is often with the Upside Down Kingdom, we don’t see Jesus coming to save the righteous, but inviting sinners to come to repentance, and be used for great things (hint: not one of us is without sin). It is yet another beautiful illustration of how Jesus did so many things in unexpected ways. Phos Church Sunday Sermon 5-3-2026

Upside Down Kingdom - Untouchable, Unforgivable, and the Invitation Home
We're diving back into our "Upside Down Kingdom" series again this week, where Pastor Tyler takes us on a journey through Luke 5:12-26. In these passages, we see Jesus heal a man who dealt with leprosy, and another man who was a paralytic. We see healing miracles take place, which was astounding in its own right, but we also see something deeper taking place. Forgiveness of sins, reintegration into society, and life being renewed in multiple ways. Jesus didn't just come to heal ailments and surface level symptoms. He came to renew and restore and to cut to the root of our problems, which is sin and how it has affected all of creation. And he's the only one that can forgive it and reconcile us to the Father. Phos Church: Missions Sunday 2026
This weekend was our 2nd annual Missions conference! Here at Phos, we believe missions are an important branch of ministry that we really try to put a lot of effort into, as we do our best to reach the nations and those around us with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Friday evening, we kicked off the weekend by participating in Radical’s Secret church event, where we streamed in conjunction with 50,000 other believers to learn more about the persecuted people of church throughout the world. Saturday evening, we hosted an open panel discussion with our Kenya missions team where attendees got to learn more about what it’s like to embark on a mission’s trip in Kenya and see what God is doing through the efforts of our church members. For today's sermon to finish things off, we had guest speaker and missionary, Ken Bresser, share about parts of his missions journey throughout his lifetime, including his times in Russia. He also dove into a great message on what God’s plan is for the nations of our world and the role that we as believers play within the fabric of that grand plan. Phos Church Missions Sunday 4-19-2026 Thank you to everyone who participated or contributed to our conference this weekend!

Upside Down Kingdom - A Different Kind of Fishing Trip
I don’t think it’s a secret that life can be very difficult at times. Sometimes we put in tons of effort, time, and sacrifice, only to come up empty handed or end up feeling like a failure. It can be difficult to not let our identities fall into the traps of “if we fail at something in life, then it defines us.” As we see in today’s text in Luke 5:1-11, Pastor Tyler preaches on the story of when Jesus calls on His first disciples in Simon (Peter), Andrew, James, and John, whom were all fisherman. After a long, unsuccessful night of fishing, they are found exhausted, only to have Jesus come and ask them to cast out their nets just one more time. To their surprise, they end up with an overabundance of a catch. So much so that, which not only showcased God’s power to provide, but it moved the men toward humility and realization of who was in front of them. The expertise in their craft was trumped by the Messiah, which lead to the next step presented to them: to follow Jesus into a new adventure, leaving behind all they knew. Their lives were never the same after that. Phos Church Sunday Sermon 4-12-2026

Phos Church - Easter Sunday 2026 - The Light of Life
Just 3 days after the darkest day in history, from the darkness comes the most revolutionary day the world has ever encountered, where Jesus rises from dead and brings forth new creation, new covenant, and new life…reversing the curses of death going all the way back to the fall of humanity. Though the full arc of this story is still in progress in our present day, Jesus has bridged that gap, giving everyone the gifts of salvation, reconciliation, and eternal life for all who put their faith in Him. He is risen, indeed! In today’s Easter message, Pastor Tyler takes us through John 20:1,11-18 where we see Jesus first reveal Himself to Mary from the garden near the tomb in which He has recently departed. As He taught in so much of His time on earth, Jesus proclaimed He is the way, the truth, and life; that what our souls are seeking is found in Him and Him alone. And in this current world where loneliness has actually grown to epidemic proportions, it is clear that our souls are seeking something. Jesus is that “something,” and everything else good flows from that. We hope you have a blessed Easter Sunday! May “The Light of Life” be with you today and every day! Phos Church - Good Friday 2026 - When the Lights Went Out
Happy Good Friday! And though it is called “Good,” it is also the darkest day in history, where Jesus finishes His mission of coming to earth to redeem humanity, by becoming obedient to death on a cross as a sinless sacrifice for all of us. In fact, as we see in our passage for today in Luke 23:44-46, we see there was literal darkness over the whole land for 3 hours of time, in the middle of the day. But why? As humans, it can be very natural for us to despise the dark (and with good reason). However, as we will see Pastor Tyler guide us in today’s passages, darkness can be a place where God ends up doing some of His deepest work; whether within us in our personal lives or in the midst of his grand plan, as showcased during the death of Jesus nearly 2,000 years ago. Yes, Sunday is coming. Death and darkness was shown to be defeated, and that’s AMAZING news for all of us that should be embraced! But let us not rush to that, as we contemplate on what it cost to allow for that reality to come to fruition. Phos Church Good Friday 2026 4-3-2026

Upside Down Kingdom - The King Who Holds True Power and Authority
Happy Palm Sunday and the start of Holy week! Though our sermon this week actually continues in our current series of the “Upside Down Kingdom,” coincidentally, we are in Luke 4:31-44 this week, where we see glimpses of a story that very much mirrors the traditional Palm Sunday message. In this set of passages, we see Jesus continuing the start of His ministry, moving on from Nazareth to go to Capernaum, preaching with authority and power, but also healing many and casting out demons. He is praised for these things, just like on Palm Sunday where He was brought in with open arms and jubilance. But at the end of the day, Jesus rarely fits what the world expects Him to be, and once He doesn’t fit the mold that many thinks He should, He ends up rejected, as we saw in last week’s sermon in Luke 4:14-30. It can be easy to do this when life doesn’t go the way we think it should. But there is only one who has the ultimate authority over everything, including demons, healing, and death, and that is the Messiah.

Upside Down Kingdom - Nazareth: The Unlikely Homecoming
We're now 10 sermons into our Upside Kingdom series. This week, Pastor Tyler pulls from Luke 4:14-30, where we see Jesus return to start his ministry in his hometown of Nazareth. However, though things started out ok in the synagogue where he went to preach and there seems to be a bit of excitement from the hometown crowd at first, Jesus continues further in his speaking and exposes the hearts and the expectations of the Jews during that time for what they thought the Messiah was going to be. So much so, that Jesus went from being "spoken well of", to an attempt to push him off a cliff. Phos Church Sunday Sermon 3-22-2026
