Strangers & Exiles - Faith While Waiting in Hope
To say that society has sped up in almost every way possible in comparison to how things were even just 20 years ago, let alone any longer than that, would probably be a bit of an understatement. From how swiftly we receive the news or a scoreboard update, to quick-charging phones and half-a-day package deliveries, it’s actually a bit mind-boggling if you really take a second to sit with those realities…and yet, it is so culturally normal at this point. However, instant gratification has programmed us to expect everything absolutely right now…and often it can really put our minds and expectations at odds with God’s timing for things in our lives when it comes to His promises. In week 3 of our “Strangers & Exiles” sermon series, Pastor Tyler dissects Hebrews 11:11-12, referencing the promise of a child that would eventually be born from Sarah (Abraham’s wife from the book of Genesis), and how she was able to find faith for this promise, even in old age (Genesis 18:12-15). This faith she held didn’t come without doubts though. She initially laughed at the fact that she could conceive at her age, yet she still held onto imperfect belief within the 25 year process of God fulfilling that promise. Pastor Tyler also shares a deep personal story and struggle that he and his wife Karen have been navigating for awhile, in hopes that it may encourage you in the waiting seasons of your own life. Strangers & Exiles - Faith When You Don't Know the Road Ahead
Jumping into week 2 of our latest sermon series, Strangers & Exiles, we focus on an excerpt from Abraham’s life in Hebrews 11:8-10. Interestingly, we see a man following in faith, yet “…not knowing where he was going” (Hebrews 11:8). Sometimes we may receive a clear direction in God’s leading. Other times (or perhaps more often than not), we’re not shown much of the picture…but only asked to take the first step towards something. At odds with this as well is our tendency to need certainty in our lives. If I get involved in this relationship, is it going to work out? If I move to this new city or country, am I going to get taken care of? Following in faith doesn’t always make sense, and yes, discernment is still required. But we see over and over again in Scripture…if you know the call received is from God, following in obedience is the next step, as showcased by Abraham in today’s passage, even if it might not always make sense; whether you have all the details or not. Strangers & Exiles - Faith When You Can't See it
If we’re honest, I think it can be safe to say that having faith in Jesus is not easy. For someone that we can no longer tangibly see in the physical realm in God the Son, let alone the Father or Holy Spirit, standing in the truth of the faith is difficult to explain to others who don’t share in it. It can look crazy, absurd, or inconceivable (Noah can attest to this when no one believed why he was building an ark). Keeping the faith can also be testing for us. Do we bask in it when being showered with blessings and expansion? Or do you forget about God? The minute something goes wrong, do you fade away from faith, or are you able to hold strong in the suffering? Our new series, “Strangers & Exiles,” will take us through Hebrews 11 to close out the year of 2025 at Phos Church. Pastor Tyler starts this series looking deeper into what having faith looks like when you cannot see it, preaching from Hebrews 11:1-7 as our starting point. The trend will continue in the coming weeks, exploring concepts of faith, living in obedience, and holding onto God’s promises amidst the unknown. As always, we appreciate your support and we hope you enjoy this new series! Phos Church Sunday Sermon 11-16-2025

"The Truth" - Phos Church - 11-9-2025
In a world full of ever-changing opinions, landscapes, politics, A.I., etc…the lines between what is true and real and what is deception, fabricated, or a half-truth are becoming blurrier and harder to discern as time moves forward. So what do we do? If we’re all imperfect humans, and if there is a deeper purpose to this world and the time we live in, then there has to be a foundation to the origins of creation, what is considered right or wrong, and why we are here in the first place. In this one-off sermon, Phos Church Elder David Lasslett steps in this week to preach on what truth is, how we find it, and what we do with it once we know it. With a focus on the famous Scripture of John 14:6, Elder David zooms in on the moral and spiritual foundations of truth, as spoken by Jesus Himself. We hope you enjoy, and stay tuned for our upcoming sermon series starting next week, entitled “Strangers & Exiles.” Phos Church Sunday Sermon 11-9-2025

The Storytellers - God Runs the Story Forward
We conclude our “Storytellers” sermon series this week in Luke 15. This chapter in the Bible is filled with parables relating to the value that Jesus places on every human being that’s ever roamed on this earth. In short, He is seeking us! He wants to bring us home and build that relationship. Jesus is willing to leave the 99 to find the one. Luke 15:10 says “Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” And in the second half of the chapter, we see one of the most famous parables…that of “the Prodigal Son.” Though it is still our decision to choose Him, He truly wants every single one of us to come to Him, and He will receive us with open arms, just as we are. If we’re already believers, we get the opportunity to participate in showcasing and sharing the love of the Father with others. It is not us who can save, but we join the “search party,” sharing the good news of Jesus with love, and then let God do the rest. Everyone needs Him, because He truly is the answer to what we’re searching for within our souls, as He famously says in John 14:6. And that is a story worth sharing. We hope you found this 4-part series edifying and insightful! Have a blessed week! Phos Church Sunday Sermon 11-2-2025

The Storytellers - Living the Story
This week, we’re now into the second half of our four week “The Storytellers” series. In week 1, we learned about the foundation of what is needed in order to be an ambassador for Christ, and last week we touched on focusing on how to better listen to those around us, so that we as Christ storytellers may be able to be more loving and effective within our daily dynamics with others. This week, Pastor Tyler dives further into how Jesus modeled living day in and day out with the people he came in contact with, touching on Luke 7:34. What were His methods? What was His purpose for doing any sort of ministry? What was the motive? Though not impossible to find in this world, the way Jesus modeled “living out the story” may look a bit different then some of the dynamics we see in today’s culture. Though technology has “connected” us more easily, we do see a lot of patterns of isolation, disconnect, and distraction within our current lively constructs. How can we use our gifts, blessings, or talents to not only serve others, but to be more hospitable? What shifts can we make to model how Jesus “lived the story?” Phos Church Sunday Sermon 10-26-2025

The Storytellers - Listening for the Story
Last week, we jumped into a new series, “The Storytellers,” looking at the larger story that God calls us into within the workings of our lives and the people around us, and where the foundation of sharing that story starts from. This week out of the Book of Acts, Pastor Tyler explores the question of how we can better communicate the message of Christ. We all might have our inclinations, gifts, and ways of doing things uniquely, but at the same time, we need to find ways to relate to others in their day-to-day, as sometimes the message coming out of the church walls can be abrasive. How do we stand in truth and hold to it, while also meeting others where they are at in their life journeys? How can we better use our listening skills to relate to and love someone in a more fruitful way? It’s not necessarily an easy tightrope to walk, but with practice, patience, and a Christ-centered heart, we can perhaps learn how to be great story listeners first, which can help us become better storytellers on behalf the Kingdom. The Storytellers - Sent Into the Story
This week, we’re adventuring our way into a new, four week sermon series entitled “The Storytellers.” Our lives are made up of all sorts of stories. Even as we individually look at the micro-lens of our own journey, there is a giant, multifaceted macro-lens story that has been playing out since the beginning of time: God’s story. Whether or not we know it, we’re all playing a part in it…but if you’re a believer in Jesus, you become invited in to be an ambassador to share and live out His message to humanity. Jesus said in John 10:10 that He “…came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” As we follow His path, that story plays out in whatever way that is meant to for each of us…but we’re invited in to tell the rest of the world about who He is, why it’s important, and the good news of what is to come. But HOW do we do that effectively? How do we become “Storytellers” ourselves? In this series, we will explore some of the surrounding aspects in how to live this out in this ever-changing world. 5 Years Anniversary - One Life, Don't Waste It (Again) - Phos Church
Today, we celebrated the 5th anniversary of Phos Church! So much has happened since launch, and like any journey, it has had its peaks and valleys, but it has been an incredible ride thus far. We are truly grateful for all the support (however big or small) anyone has contributed towards the mission and vision of Phos Church since its inception. For this week’s single sermon, entitled “One Life, Don’t Waste It (again),” Pastor Tyler takes us back to the beginning (in a sense), by reviving and revising the first sermon preached at Phos Church, entitled “One Life, Don’t Waste It.” As humans, we have desire built into our being. However, it is so easy to fill those holes of inner desire with things that ultimately won’t fully satisfy us. It’s not that everything that we enjoy in our lives is necessarily bad, but we often end up putting things into the wrong order. What’s the remedy? As Psalm 37:4 states, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” We hope you enjoy today’s message, and we look forward to what God may have in store over the next 5 years! God Bless! Phos Church Sunday Sermon (5th Anniversary) 10-5-2025
